I am sure all of us on here, have had some sort of issues with cloths. So, I thought I would start this post.
My big issue with cloths when I was overweight was finding things that fit right.
Well, now after losing weight, I still have issues with this. It's like they try to make cloths with some ideal body figure that is nothing like a real persons body.
It's so annoying.
Also, why can't they make cute cloths for bigger people, or even older people for that matter.
Just cause I am old doesn't mean I want to advertise it and by wearing things my grandmother would of worn.
Oh yeah! and what is up with the style these days. Right now, long shirts are really in. I am sorry but my gut show in those. Or the stupid baby doll shirts. I don't really want to look pregnant, geeezzzz. can the cloth people please come up with some better styles in the future.
Ok, there are some of my grips.
So, tell me what ticks you off about cloths!

Clothes are bad. You should never wear them again. Go everywhere in your bra and panties.

LOL funny stuff Vega.
Personally I like clothes. As long as they fit and are not outdated I think there are clothes out there for you. It is definitely much more difficult to find stylish clothes when you are overweight.
That fact though has always been a motivating factor for me to lose weight though (not that I didn't have enough of a reason already).
I don't have issues finding clothes when I lose weight but then again I am not a woman.

I suggest you buy the book "the body shape bible" Even without going shopping i have discovered what looks good on my body from things already in my closet.
I totally agree about those empire waistlines & baby doll sillutettes, they suit hardly anyone by the way.

Oh, don't even get me started on bras and panties....
I can't even tell you how much stress that was when I had to buy new underwear after losing weight.
It was either thongs or granny pants.....it's was like could you have a happy medium... geezzzz...

My daughter wears things that make her look, well, lets say not so attractive, and she does it cause they are in style.
I tell her, where something in style that at least makes you look good, that is almost a no brainer.
But, she still will wear something that doesn't look that great on her, but hey, it's got the name brand...
It's so stupid...

I hate that too, i mean don't get me wrong, im as much of a label #%@&! as the rest of them. But if something doesn't fit me right or suit my body its staying in the store! Buying something expensive that looks #%@&! on you looks just as cheap if you had bought it from target or something (mind you i have a few very nice well fitting target items thankyouverymuch!)
Im annoyed my fave clothing store (Barkins) doesn't have a shop in my city (or online!?), i have to travel 2 hours to go there. They stock standard sizes up to a few larger ones which is very nice & they're exeptionally well made.
The worst is seeing larger women in cheap stretchy t shirts that dig into every lump & bump or short#%@&!ty skirts...I see a lot of that here. I have rolls & wobbly bits but you would never ever see them with my clothes on because they fit correctly! My other pet peeve is skinny women who think they look great in anything - I actually saw a girl in the mall about 18 years old weaing a tank top as a dress, about 4 inches of her butt cheeks were showing (the only reason i know she had underpants on was because i saw her black thong, yess the top!) and flouffy snow boots

| Oh by the way, "fit models" whom they actually make the patterns for the clothes on are usually freaky colomn shaped women with no boobs & no bottom (think gwennyth paltro). Thats why its so hard for 98% of the worlds population to find something that looks good

Cloths, cloths, cloths. I love cute shoes, but they don't come in my size. I love the new hippie style that's coming back, but it almost always makes me look dumpy instead of hippie.
I. Hate. Label-whatever-a-hoots.
I don't know why, I think it's just the price. Plus, I hate wearing random names on my butt or whatever. >.<
But, I do find some cloths that allow for boobs and a butt, but the funny thing is that I need room for my ribs!
Honestly, my ribs are about as big as my boobs. Now, I'm not all that big, but still! So, when the baby boll shirts are supposed to come across the smallest part of your body, they hit the biggest on me!
Gah, I want to destory all#%@&!ty clothing in my school. It drives me up the wall when some girl is sitting, legs as far apart as the earth and the sun, showing off her thong.
Anywho, cloths can be really fun though. ^^ They help hide some of my lumps and bumps if I find the right ones.

Because my legs are so big, it's harder for me to find pants that fit my legs. I like my pants to be slightly snug in the waist (so they don't fall down - belts are annoying, and they don't always work right ).
I don't like boxers, and it's been difficult to find briefs that fit well, too. I'm constantly having to adjust them. The other day, Mom and I were at Target, and they were giving me exceptional problems, so I had to adjust them manually. Mom wasn't looking, but I was totally oblivious to the lady in the next aisle with her children. Mom told me that the lady was staring at me through the whole process and smiling. Oy! I need to pay more attention.

Aw, no worries. In volleyball we wear these spandex that are not long at all.
^^ So it's sorta a mutual agreement that its okay to adjust.
But my brother teased me for it sooo much after he watched my first volleyball game!

Another one of my big complaints about cloths are the sizing of them. No kidding, I have three pairs of pants all the same brand.
One is a size 7, and tight, one is a size 5 and big on me, one is a size 3 and fit just right.
What the heck...

A lot of that has to do with the country it is made in. Check labels, brands manufactured in america, canada, Australia & europe tend to be larger than labels manufactured in china & vietnam & taiwan.
I have 2 stores i probably do 70% of my shopping in & they're manufactured in spain & australia & I usually dont have any sizing issues.

Clothes, clothes, clothes!
Love them especially the new style thats out, with the metalic print on the shirt and the big scarfs and the flashy colorful nike sneakers. especially when the shirt colors match the colors on the sneakers i think that looks really phresh. i be on my grzzy with them jawns. =] ya'll are probably like what the $%$ but what can i say i'm a teenager i love looking flashy. I'm more of a heels person though i wear those more than sneakers.
what ticks me off is when people are wearing really nice pieces of clothes that look nice by themselves but all not together. or when someone's wearing a really stylen outfit that so right but their facial structure, skin tone or body shape doesn't go with the outfit. eck.

I hear ya on that last point. I don't care that much and I probably notice it much less that you. I see it in women all the time, but I see people of both sexes wearing cuts of jeans that are way awful of their body type.

Maybe she's a future fashion designer. =)
My main pet peeve: like Shannon, overweight people wearing clothes designed to show every curve and bump. It's just really, really unpleasant to see all that disgustingness. Fortunately I haven't yet been subjected to seeing someone's nearly naked bum out in public, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.

You know what, I tend to agree with you, scribbler. I don't where stuff that shows my stomach or other parts of my body and I don't really enjoy looking at other peoples stuff either. Even if they are thin and look nice. I mean come on, have a little respect for yourself.
Like one time at the bar, we went there for st. pats. and there were these really large women there dancing, with their thongs showing. I just roll my eyes at that kind of stuff. Or the old guys with their crack showing. Yeah, thats what I want to look at....geeeezzzz

My issue with clothes right now is my pants are just a little too tight and the shirts that used to fit snug are now uncomfortable snug and make me feel completely self conscious. I don't have the money to go out and buy two or three pairs of new jeans or even slacks. The same goes for shirts. So I figure, why not just try and lose the weight and solve the problem, heh.

While I cannot comment on all the bras and panties ideas (although I personally wouldn't mind if that's all women wore ), I can say that some stores do cater to larger men.
I have found a lot of great clothes either at LL Bean or Casual Male XL. LL Bean has "regular" sizes too, and once in a while, their largest size available is still too small for me. Still, they have a lot of great clothes and their return policy is excellent.
Casual Male XL is desinged for VERY large men. I went to a store and the cashier there said I was one of the smallest sizes they have! LOL! It's great hearing that.
Both stores have websites and actual locations (although LL Bean stores are only in Maine).
I recommend getting measurements taken so you know what size you are now. Any good clothing store can do this. For men, neck, arm length, inseam and waist are key. Then try on jackets and such at that store to be sure you know what size you wear. With that info., you can then order on-line without issue.
Suggestions: do not ever wear pants with pleats. First, that style is becoming out-dated (even though one can still find plenty of pants with pleats). Second, even on thin people, pleats tend to bunch up at the waist making a person look bigger. I tried on some pants with pleats and it looked like I gained 15 pounds. Only wear flat front pants (or jeans).
Both stores also have fashionable clothing regardless of your age. You can get T-shirts and jeans and shorts, as well as dress shirts, jackets and shoes. And you won't look like you are wearing something meant for "big men only" (like some muumuu ).
These stores sell belts and underclothing. I'm sure you could find underpants that fit. I recommend a belt as it completes a look. Plus, as you lose weight and have to tighten that belt, it feels even better!

While I agree with you DaniMae1, Dilletanteeyes does have a point though.
Certain colors and styles simply don't work on some people. Reds and oranges aren't always very good for people with blond hair, for example. A person with light skin wearing a light shirt may find it "washing out". A 25-year old shouldn't try to wear clothes suited for a 13-year old. A 40-year old shouldn't wear clothes suited for a 25-year old.
In other words, it's important to wear age appropriate clothing (i.e., not something that makes a person look too old, but not something that clearly screams of a person trying to look too young either)and see what styles and colors work best on you, not a mannequin. So often a mannequin looks great in an outfit, but on a real body, the clothes hang poorly.
It may sound shallow, but clothes cost big $$. Why spend money on something that looks bad on you? So while Dilletanteeyes words were harshly written, and I too don't get upset with what others are wearing, I understand her overall point regarding wearing appropriate clothing.

I maintain that the best style investment a woman can make is Trinny & Suzannah's Body Shape Bible
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Body-Shape-Bible-Discover-Transform/dp/0297844547
I took my step mum on a body shape bible shopping trip & she was totally suprised how much suited her when I stuck her in clothes that followed the guidelines.
Theres one for men too
(AND ITS FREE!!!)

I can't read both links now (sneaking in a peak at work, but some sites are blocked). However, it appears the basic rule is don't worry about numbers - dress for your body.
If you ever watch that show "What Not to Wear", you'll hear them preach this constantly. Don't worry about being a size larger than you want to be. Get an item that fits your current frame. Also, many clothes are wrong in their sizes. For example, I typically wear a 2XL shirt. In some cases, 2XL is too big on me! However, just today, I had to go up to a 3XL shirt for this ONE particular style because the 2XL shirt in this style did not fit. All the other 2XL items were perfect or big, but for this one shirt, I had to use 3XL. As I like the shirt, I got it, despite the larger size.
Of course, the reverse is also true. Larger people especially tend to wear baggy clothes. This is true for women and men. I have found that even though I am bigger right now (as I work on losing weight), wearing clothes that fit me as I am makes me look SLIMMER than wearing some baggy outfit. And again. on "What Not to Wear", they show this is true time and time again.
It's a silly show, but it really helps one realize that one should accept their body as is and try to look good in it. I think in doing this, it will ultimately help us in our weight loss goals.

I agree with this, but I still cannot push myself to wear L-sized tees out in public. They fit fairly well, but it's just a bit more contour than I like. Generally, I like my shirts to be a bit baggy and my pants to be a bit snug. I made an exception at the gym, but I sweated so much there that any shirt I was wearing became "instant spandex".

I fully understand that. Right now, as I'm big, I'm not wearing some tight T-shirt either. LOL! To me, it's just as bad seeing rolls of fat as it is seeing a muumuu.
My point was that I'm just wearing clothes that fit me as I am now. So I'm not wearing some 3XL shirt (or bigger), but I'm also not wearing a form-fitting shirt either. Even if I was in shape, I wouldn't wear that. I know of several guys at work who are in great shape and none wear form-fitting clothes. But they do wear clothes that fit - and that is the difference. That is, the clothes fit their body and compliment the way they look. Yet, they don't look like they're showing off or wearing something so baggy that you can't tell what they look like.

Not much help with the men but for women scared of wearing clothes that actually fit, I find foundation garments are a must.
I wear one of these suckers every day to stop the wobblies, vpl & visible belly button.

lol they do actually have garments for men too...its a bit rique so I thought I would link it rather than post it here. Have a look if you're barve enough....LMAO man girdle!

LOL, man girdle
Funny, the only time I wore a girdle was when I was in my 20's and was a size 5. lol, hardly think I needed it then. Gesh! what was I thinking.....
Could probably use one now with gravity working against me and all.

You know I tried to wear one of these body shaper type things and it was so uncomfortable. The funny thing is that you'd think girdles had been made to slim down larger overweight people but I normally see thin people using them! Also.. I am not sure but I think man girdles have been around since Elizabethan times or so.
