| I just need somebody to be accountable to and for encouragement and also, to provide encouragement to. I'm a 45 year old female and I need to lose at least 80 pounds. It's time to get healthy. Any takers?

Okay, buddy, you're on! I weigh in on Tuesday mornings. In fact, I'll meet you here tomorrow morning around 8:30 (CST) to give you the news--good or bad. When do you weigh in? What do you do for exercise? How's your eating?
I promise not to be judgmental, but I will stay on you to keep to your program. I hope you'll do the same for me. I'm an emotional eater as well as a boredom eater. I need all the help I can get!
If anyone else want to join us, the more, the merrier!

Hi, my name is Ronald.
Just like you I'm an emotional eater. Was on holiday for the past week. I'm going to detox for 3 days starting tomorrow. I joined the gym in October last year, haven't been a regular visitor but managed to loss 18 lbs. Don't really have a diet, but have changed a few habits. Firstly, breakfast is a must, cereal and fruit. I've also got a meal suppliment that I'm going to take after I go to the gym. Due to work, I can only visit the gym after 5 in the evening. My target is 198 lbs and I'm currently at 246 lbs. The best time for me to do a weigh-in is on a Sunday morning after gym. Will post my new weigh every Monday morning.
My email address is ronaldg @ lrplastics, you can contact me anytime you like. I hope you and I can help each other achieve our goals.

Hi guys, I'm already on another buddy site but I thought I'd stop in and say hi. You twop both sound so motivated, maybe I'll peek in once in a while if that's okay by you. I am pretty much at goal but it has taken me over 2 years and I am still fighting for that last 10 pounds. I lost about 50 lbs the first year, and last year i dropped another ten. It was slow but I think that has helped me keep it off this time.
Me, pretty much a boredom eater I must say, put me in front of a TV and I can eat non stop, which in the winter is a problem.
Anyway, good luck to you both on you new journey.

Hiker, you can stop in any time you like. Ronald, I'm glad to meet you and glad we're on this journey together. I know what you mean about work. I try to get my walk in before work, which means getting up an hour earlier than I normally would. I AM NOT a morning person, so this is quite an achievement for me. Then I try to walk a couple of times a week after work. I have a husband, a college-aged son, three dogs, and a house to keep up with, so evenings get a little crazy.
Today's weigh in was down a pound and a half--257.5. I'll take what I can get! Have a great day!

Good Morning, Ronald--How are you doing today? Yesterday's eating went well--I did have a little bit of chocolate, buth otherwise, everything was on schedule. I didn't get to walk last night--had to get groceries at our local Walmart. I did walk this morning and plan to go tonight and do another two miles.
I may have to check in a couple times today--we're having a fish fry at work today and everyone brings a dish--it's always really good food, but nothing really diet-friendly. Temptation, temptation, temptation!
Have a wonderful day!

Hi
I'm starting my 3 day detox tomorrow. To much fizzy drinks, alcohol and sugar over the festive period. Tuesday I'm back in the gym proper. Started work on Monday after 3 week break, so still getting into the routine. Will weigh on Sunday, then post my starting weight for this year. I also got some whey protein which I'm going to have after gym. My biggest problem is have a big meal after gym during the week. I'm definitely going to eliminate this. I really need this to work, although I'm doing this for myself, I owe someone bigtime. I promised her over one year ago that I'm going to get into shape. Hope you'll have a great weekend, and the more people we have the better.
Some tips I've got from this forum and others.
1 - 1.5 lts of water a must. You have to eat to lose weight. Breakfast and 5 or 6 small meals a day. If you want to cheat, you must, don't let temptation build within yourself. Don't give up because you had one bad day, get back onto the horse.
I need all the help I can get, so PLEASE HELP.

Buddy, that's what we're all here for. You're definitely right about water. I'm not a natural water drinker. I do better if I put some type of flavoring in it--Crystal light, etc. I've never done a detox before. Let me know a little about it and how it works for you. I am doing the 5-6 small meals a day, with lunch being my biggest. At least, that's what I shoot for. My co-workers laugh at me--on Monday, I haul in my food bags. I've got my apples and oranges, almonds, low-cal soups, and yogurts. I try to be prepared for when the munchies hit.
Judgemint--you're more than welcome to come along on this journey. We'll be here for you. I'm glad you're coming along. Tell us alittle about yourself.
Have a wonderful day, my friends.

Just some advice from my own experience. I know that for myself when I go on a diet or a 'eating healthy' regiment, my first question to myself is always what I should be eating and what can I eat? Then I go to the store, buy a bunch of health food and start eating. Healthy food, but eating like normal. Weight doesn't come off like this. The only time in my life that I was successful with losing weight is when my main thought was NOT about looking for healthy food to start eating, but more looking for every opportunity not to eat at all. Its NOT thinking about the food and eating that will get results. It seems when I start eating healthy, I almost think about food even more and convince myself that forcing down all these foods that I dont even like are 'doing me good'. Well, they may be healthier for me than fast food, but the calorie intake is not changed.
Too much time is elapsing without me reaching my goals. The only way I am going to reach my goal weight is to STOP thinking about the food. Feel good about passing on food, and when you do eat...eat only a very small portion. Many years ago, I lost 50 lbs in 3 1/2 months by only thinking about not eating food. The weight just fell off. Its time for me at least, to try that again. Eating far less calories than recommended will not kill you, but actually motivate you as the weight falls off.

| Hope, that's no surprise--five years have passed and I'm heavier than ever. I've lost the same 40 pounds dozens of times, and always put back on even more. That's why I'm hoping this year is a new start--if I concentrate on my failures, I lose hope. Life is nothing if there is no faith or hope. I hope you don't judge me for my failure.

| I certainly wouldn't judge anyone here, as I am nobody to point any fingers. I removed that info in case it was offending or embarrassing in any way. Hope is good, but the only problem with 'hope' is that it tends to remove all the responsibility from yourself. I've been 'hoping' for 5 years, but something only started happening when I actually started to do something about it and take action. Perhaps you fall into this category also? I dont know. For me, I am done hoping...I am just doing. Think of it like this... Every time you eat a meal that is too big, you have to add a 1/2 day onto your diet timeline of reaching your goal. I messed up so badly in December, that I am now a month and a half behind my previously anticipated goal weight. What was once going to be finished at Feb 15th, is now looking like sometime in April. I just dont want to look up at the calender and see that its 2012 or 2013 and I still havent got there. The past 5 years have gone by in just that same fashion. Maybe thinking of it in those terms might help.

Hi I'm a 44 yo male, married with kids. I have been battling 40 lbs over the last few years. I'm 6'1 and weighed in at 241.8 lbs monday. I was always very lean up to my early 20s, I could eat all day and not gain a pound. I got down to 200 a couple summers ago, but slid back to 240. The weird thing is I can eat all day, any kind of food or drink, don't do any exercising, and i will stay around 240 or so and not get any bigger. just like when I was young and I could stay at 165. Ive been working out each day since Tuesday, I weighed myself this morning and I was 232.7, but I'm not going to get a big head, because I know that more than likely will fluctuate until I'm running smooth on my calories. Like today I had a piece of chocolate cake and chicken fried steak mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner. I felt bad about that,so I worked out again tonight. I think you still need to eat some of the things you like once in a while or you fall back. I think that's what happened to me last time, I quite everything all at once, and after I lost some weight, I ate junk food I was craving, then it was hard to not eat it so that's where its at for now.

I think it's harder to diet when you have kids in the house, or a spouse that isn't weight conscious. The food is there and it tends to holler at me. Of course, I tend to answer! I don't usually work out on the weekends, but I am more active. Those two days of no walking helps me to be more enthusiastic on Monday.
Have a great weekend and hang in there!

| I get an extra day off tomorrow with the holiday, but I plan on walking as usual. My eating wasn't so good today, either, but I weigh in on Tuesday, so I have to do well tomorrow. (Gulp!) Have a great night.

Hi All
There's so many got tips here. Thanks for all your motivation.
Sheltiemom - Tried detoxing over the weekend, it does make you feel lighter, also think its about getting your body ready for whatever you have planned for it. Detoxing makes your body function at its best. I would definitely recommend it.
tourproven - You are 100% correct, the more you think about eating health and buying all those healthy "stuff", it does make your mind think a little too much about food. Thats a great tip, thanks. I fall into that trap often, didnt really understand it.
judgemint - I think if you have to eat somethings you like, you must. Its one of the ways of stop overdoing it when you finally give into temptation.
I went back to the gym on Sunday for the first time this year. Had a light workout 45min. Played 2 sets of tennis afterwards, definitely felt a little sore. My weigh was 246.4 lbs (112kg), my goal is 198 lbs (90kgs). Do you think it is possible to reach my goal weight in 3 months.
Have a great day.
Ronald

| Ronald, Sounds like you had a great workout this morning. I haven't played tennis in years, but I always enjoyed it. As for reaching your goal in three months, I don't think you'll have a problem. Just be careful not to loose it too quickly--it tends to come back with a vengence!

| Ronald, anything is possible. But I admit, when I lost 50 lbs in 3.5 months, I ate nearly nothing. I'm talking about perhaps 1 granola bar and 1 grilled chicken breast a day. Literally. With eating a somewhat normal calorie restricted diet and exercising, I think 10 lbs a month is more the norm. I am an ex-tennis pro myself btw. I was in my first few years of tennis the first time I lost weight I was very young, not even out of high school. But I can remember getting light-headed and nearly blacking out a few times when I would stand up quickly at the end of the day. Ah,...the good ol' days. That was some 20 years ago now.

Hi Guys
Just incase you're wondering I'm 36 yrs old. Hope you had a great weekend. The weather here in Durban, South Africa is stunning, A warm 300 C.
Let me know if this is a good idea. Most diets warn that if you lose too quickly you gain it back quickly. I'm 112kg ( 247 lbs ). So I know if I have a good workout each day, and eat a restricted calorie diet, I can shed many pounds quickly. So for the next 3 months this is what I want to do. Lose the 22kg ( 48.4 lbs ). Once I'm at my goal, then it will be 3 times a week to the gym, and more calories but far more healthier.
Is this against the rules or can this work. 3 months of torture for 20 years of overeating isn't so bad.

| I'm really hesitant, Ronald. Yeah, you may be able to drop that much weight that quickly, but I worry about your health. Even on shows like "The Biggest Loser" there's always a doctor present and monitoring. Please be careful and reconsider--weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. Consider your long-term health.

Well I weighed in this morning, down to 230.4 didn't drop a lot, still a couple of pounds. But that's OK, because of this fast paced week, its been so busy, my eating wasn't all that great. I had a huge rib eye and baked potato with a lot of butter on it wed night, and had to eat at taco time yesterday. should get into the 220s next week

| Today, it may not be cartwheels, but snow angels. We've got three inches on the ground and expect more tonight. I woke up at 5 this morning, did my walk, watched the news, called in to work to tell them I'm not coming, and went back to bed! This afternoon, the furbabies and I played in the snow. They're all tuckered out now--me, too. Snow playing takes a lot out of you!
