It's almost time for the next challenge, everyone!
Here are the guidelines for the New Year Weight Loss Challenge (similar to those of the previous ones):
- The challenge will run from Thursday, January 1st through Saturday, February 28th.
- You may join the challenge at any time beginning January 1st, and late-comers are most welcome. You can even join the challenge in February.
- To join the challenge, post your starting weight and goal weight.
You may choose any goal you like. But if your goal is to lose more than 17 pounds during the challenge period -- more than two pounds a week -- please explain why you think your goal is realistic.
This website is dedicate to healthy, common sense, lasting weight loss, and does not support crash diets which do not have realistic expectations of producing long-term results.
For more information, please see the Tutorial and the forum topic The Most Likely Reason Your Diet Will Fail.
- Pick a day for your weekly weigh-in, and stick to it a closely as you can. Then post your current weight each week -- or as often as you would like!
You may wish to read: How Often Should You Weigh Yourself
Those who are not losing weight, and those who are gaining, will receive praise for continuing to participate. It's so easy to run and hide! We've all been there ourselves.
We also know that by participating, they are very likely doing better than they otherwise would be.
- The results will be updated every Monday (or more often) and posted right here just below these instructions, so they will always be easy to find.
We want the challenge stats to be realistic and reflect active challenge members, so anyone not posting for two consecutive weeks will be dropped from the list. But they will be put right back on the next week should they post again.
If you need to withdraw from the challenge, please have the courtesy to post a farewell note or send me a Private Message (PM). Your name will be removed without comment.
- You are encouraged to share how you are doing during the challenge, and especially to give each other support. However, to make it easier for me to find your weekly weight, please make sure your weight stands out.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to post them or send me a PM.

These challenges take weight loss from being a chore and turn them into a game. I'm not looking forward to reaching the point where I should stop losing weight :)

I am diabetic and really need to give up sweets(eat them way too often), so I thought joining this challenge would help keep me on my toes. :)

I am putting in a stretch goal just because I would really like to crack the 120 mark.
SW: 125.5 GW 119.5 6 pounds. Yeah that is going to be tough, I think, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'll be happy if I lose 4 pounds.

Ok I am in....My starting weight (higher than my reported end weight for the last challenge) is 162lbs
Goal weight is 147lbs

I am soo in on this challenge and I cant wait to get started!!!!!   I will keep my weigh ins for Saturdays, since I track on my YAHOO DIET TRACKER AND CHECK IN THAT DAY.

Hello! I wouldnt say it so unreasonable as long as they are able to justify and explain HOW they are planning to lose a larger than 17 pd w.l. in this time period that we have. Perhaps our new member can offer some of their guidelines so that maybe we may learn more???

| I was wondering if anyone is giving a certain food or drink up for this challenge to help them loose the weight? I am going to give up cake, cookies, candy, muffins, and diet soda(I know giving diet soda won't drop any pounds, just something I feel like I need to do)

you can do whatever you like! BUT cport (Cindy)...made another Thread that is called EAT WELL CHALLENGE and then also a WEEKEND CHALLENGE. On the EW challenge, we all listed out what we need to stop eating and then in that thread we talk of how we overcame or caved or what have you...that may be better for you since its all focused on that topic. But you are welcome to write it here and also make yourself accountable!!! In fact, I will join you now!  
My list of NO NO's by BJ.
1. NO CANDY
2. NO FULL CAFFEINE, FULL SUGAR SODA. (DIET or ZERO CARB OK)
3. NO COFFEE!
4. NO FAST FOOD
Come on everyone, lets get together and enter our no no's here too...it may help us ALL stay on track better.....since we all dont get over to that thread daily...... its never gonna hurt us....BUT it may just HELP US!!!

I probably wont make it to 165 by the end of the challenge, but that only gives me more motivation. 2 months for 27 pounds... I dont think thats impossible either.

Hello
Count me in on the new challenge - Current weight: 121 / Goal Weight: 119
Weekly check in day will be Saturday.
I will be retiring on 1/31 so I need to make sure I stay on top of my exercising and watching what I eat - I am sure there will be an adjustment period so hopefully I can maintain my weight loss throughout!
I will certainly have plenty of time for working out - just have to make sure I'm not taking in more than I work out!

Even though I didn't finish the last challenge I want to join this one! I had a rough time balancing my work and family time. But I finally made it through my formation at work, so now I have a reguler schedule, that means more me-time! YEAH 
So there it goes:
starting weight: 185 pounds urgh I know, I'm up a few pounds and it's not only the holidays' fault....
Goal weight: 175 pounds
I know I can do it!

ALSO I PLAN TO WEIGH IN ON THURSDAYS.

I'm going to do this as well.
Starting Weight: 243.5
Goal Weight: 235
Weigh-In Day: Sundays
I forgot to weigh in this morning so I went ahead and did my weight before going to bed. Last Sunday morning I was up to 248.
In the past when I did these challenges I'd shoot for 2 pounds per week and would be disappointed when I would fail. This time I'm shooting for 1 pound per week.

Ok, well my weigh in today was 125lbs. So, up a pound for the challenge, but down three pounds from yesterday.
I guess I am happy with that for now....

I think I need to change my beginning weight and goal weight. My 248 pounds was when I was weighed at my doctor's office while wearing my clothes and motorcycle boots. I usually weigh myself in the morning while wearing as little as possible. The 243.5 was from last night where we usually weigh the heaviest.
I weighed myself this morning to make up for yesterday morning at 238.5. With the goal I posted last night all I would need to do is lose 3.5 pounds and I would meet my goal within a week or two. So I am going to modify my beginning and ending weight.
Starting Weight: 238.5
Goal Weight: 230
Weigh-In Day: Sundays

I'm ready to try it again. I lost about 25 lbs last spring and then gained back about 10, so... Here I am again.
I'm starting this New Year challenge at 219.5 lbs and 4'11". My goal is 209.5 ...and 5'6"! L.O.L. I WISH I could grow taller!! I'll settle for less fat though. If I have to be short I don't have to be short and fat!
