You have been busy Pat. Have you been watching The Biggest Loser this season?
I have and it never fails to motivate me. The people on there are so inspiring.
Joe braved the store for a couple of special black friday deals for me on Thanksgiving night. I really appreciated it as I felt too tired to go and needed the rest. He said it got pretty chaotic. I guess at our Wal-Mart there was pushing, shoving and I don't know what happened that they had to call the cops for.
Did any of your family members get anything from hunting?
Your family get togethers sound very special!

Thanks for the Thanksgiving Day wishes, Sassy and Mol!
It was a crazy day, but filled with family! I was beat at the end of it, with my feet aching so bad I could hardly keep going. The ankle's still been hurting.......going on 5 weeks straight now, but on and off since January.
I went back to the orthopedist on Monday. I want to know why the ankle doesn't get better. He recommended an MRI, and I actually got in later in the afternoon. Have an appt. Monday morning to find out the results.
My newest grandson shared his cold with me..........I'm feeling awful. Just want to be home in bed! I stayed at work on Monday, until the Dr. appt. Went home around 4:00 after the MRI..........and slept.
Taking Wednesday and 1/2 of Thursday off to watch my grand-daughter. Her daycare is closed this week. So, I felt I had to come into work today and try to get something done. But, it's been a struggle........my head is so stuffed and foggy! Even with taking a cold tablet.........feels like it's done nothing for me.
Sassy, yes I am watching the BL. Hope I get to see makeover night tonight. That's always exciting! I really need inspiration right now. I don't even want to step on the scale. I've had so many breads/starches in the last 2 months, and the pants are slowly getting tighter! I need to turn it around, but no energy to do it this week, with this horrible cold! But, soon............I need to do it soon, or the pants won't fit at all!

Well, I got worse instead of better. Some virus I think, with diarrhea, aches, and slight fever. Lasted about 24 hrs, but still feeling wiped out today. My poor grand-daughter hasn't had a very good time with grandma. Good thing she's content to entertain herself. Today is her 5th birthday, and she is so excited!
I guess God decided to give me a boost on the weight loss...........I'm sure the scale is down after this session with the stomach flu........now to build on that, and get back down to where I was.
Time for a nap..........Clifford the Big Red Dog is on.

Hmmmn...That sounds sort of like how I felt. I know there's a lot of stuff going around at school from what the kids tell me. Everything from strep, to stomach flue and now a letter from the school saying chicken pox is going around.
I remember Clifford! LOL. That was a long time ago.
If you have any Schizandra leftover or your other adrenal herb mixture it might help you get some energy back.
I'll say a prayer for you. I hate being sick. Take good care of yourself!

Can't believe it's been so long since I've been posting! Well, maybe I can. I have been very busy!
Jack..........thanks to you for the Thanksgiving wishes........back at ya! Now it's almost Christmas already!
I finally went to see the Dr. to get the results of my MRI. I freaked out a bit, as we got a letter on Dec. 1st that our health benefits had run out again So a big check went for those this month! Anyway, the ortho Dr. said no fractures, no bone spurs, no signs of arthritis..........some tendonosis in the left Achilles and some sign of plantar facitis (which I don't feel). He still thinks it's tendonitis in the anterior tibialis. So, he put me in an aircast for a month. Has that ever slowed me down! And frankly, my ankle still hurts. It felt better for a few days, but then I started in on Christmas baking and have just been on my feet for very long periods of the day. For the last 2 weeks, I haven't been to bed before midnight..........a couple of times it was 1:00 a.m and a couple of times it was 2:00 a.m. I am fighting to keep my eyes open at work, as this morning's coffee wears off.
I got brave enough to get on the scale about 1-2 weeks ago. NOT GOOD! Now I can't tell what's happening without stepping on it. I've been wearing stretchy workout pants since I got the aircast on my foot. I am suppose to leave it on, except to shower each morning. It's just easier getting the pants on and off when I wear these instead of the dress pants I normally wear to work. I can tell the stomach has expanded greatly Been eating too many breads, and this weekend, while celebrating several family Christmas's already, I've had too many sweets. The tummy is growing!
Thanks to the hubs, we do have a Christmas tree up. And thanks to one of my daughters and the grandkids, we also have a few other Christmas decorations up around the house.
Pushed myself alot before the weekend. Had so much cleaning to do before my family came on Saturday night! Everything is coated in sheetrock dust! And I didn't get to the dusting until almost midnight on Friday night. Saturday evening, as I sat visiting with family, I saw I could have written my name on the furniture again! Am having hubs family on Christmas day for lunch...........will have to dust everything really well again!
I just love watching the Biggest Loser finale shows! Those contestants are so inspiring! They looked so hot............and when you see their beginning pics, I wonder why I have so much trouble with so little weight to lose? What if I had 180 lbs to take off, like some of them did? They did an awesome job! Can't wait to see the new one start in January
Hubs is still working nights, and loving it! He normally works 4-10 hr shifts. With the holidays, he'll have those 2 Monday's off...........so will work 2 weeks of 3-10 hr. shifts. A little hard on the paycheck. Sure hope he's got enough hrs in now, so we don't have to pay for insurance again this month.
Hubs and I are skipping our Christmas gifts to each other again this year. We will need so much for the house, when we get done with the new addition. And we are also going to try to get to AZ to visit his parents this winter. I've never been to their place, and it would be a nice break!
I am looking forward to Christmas this weekend! Our office closes at noon on Friday and we are closed until Tuesday, Dec. 27th. A long weekend! Of course, I have to do Christmas Day dinner, but we will have a lovely Christmas Eve. We have church service at 4:00 p.m. That's what Christmas is all about for us, the birth of Jesus! So, the perfect way to kick off the weekend I'll put a small prime rib in the oven before we leave. When we get home from church, we get out a few appetizers, and play games until the sweet potato bakes. Then after dinner, we watch a few movies, cuddled up in a make-shift nest on the floor in front of the TV and the lit Christmas tree. For years Christmas was so crazy, rushing around with little kids to all the relatives. I thought I'd miss it when it changed, but I have come to love and cherish this quiet time together with my hubs!
Hope you all are doing well, and will have a very blessed Christmas celebration!

I just lost a really long post I had typed to you.
It was so nice to hear how you've been. I hope your feet/ankle gets better.
Joe and I decided to make our present to each other (combined with some money my step father sent) a lap top. It has come in handy since there are 4 of us sharing the computer for work and home work.
I am looking forward to Christmas also and spending some time with all of my kids. Also now the days will start getting longer again. It has been so cold lately I have felt disinclined to do much of anything! I am just not a winter person. No matter what kind of winter we are having, spring is never early enough for me!

A belated Merry Christmas to you and yours, too, Sassy!
It's been so long since I posted, I'm not sure where to start.......still been on my feet alot over Christmas and New Year's. The pain in the ankle is not getting better. The month is up for wearing the air cast, and I went back to see the Orthopedist. He doesn't know what to do next.........so we are starting physical therapy again on Monday, and he is referring me to a specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Mayo called this morning, and I will be getting information about an appt. in 2 weeks, but who knows how much later than that the appt will actually be? Meanwhile the PT to see if it helps at all. Last weekend, my big toe and the one next to it started getting numb......that's happened on and off while wearing the boot, but the feeling has always come back. This time they remain numb and are getting worse. I am starting to wean myself off the boot. It felt so good not to have that awkward thing on in bed last night......I wore a stiff ankle brace though.......but didn't sleep well, as it hurt ALOT!
There was a very bad accident about 15 minutes behind me last night, on my drive home from work. A car with three 18-19 year olds in it, that tried to pass 2 cars, lost control and were broadsided by an oncoming pickup...........2 are dead. So sad! How many minutes or seconds would they have gain by passing, instead of just being patient? The 2 lane road divides into 4 lanes less than 2 miles ahead of where it happened...........sure wasn't worth it to pass, was it? People are so impatient.......especially young drivers!
A week from today our DD and her hubs fly home from CO for our family Christmas. I can hardly wait to see them, and to just have the whole family together for a long weekend. Of course, it means more food and eating! But, it also means opening gifts and enjoying the grandchildren, setting puzzles, playing games until all hours of the morning, long conversations with my kids, lazy mornings, lots of hugs and laughter..........and just being together!
Work is stressful! Always is with the year end and the new year! So much to be done yesterday.........and here I am taking 3 days off work when the kids all come home! So much to do in the next week. Wish I was a few more people, so I could get caught up.
I read one of Mol's entries...........and it struck a chord with me. For almost 2 years I have felt like I can never get caught up or organized. Any time I think I'm making a bit of headway, something else comes up at work and I get bogged down again! So much stress! I will be having less work to do in the future, but seems like I'll never get everything done that needs to be done before I get to that point. The other lady in the office wants to start working just 2-3 days a week, beginning in March. I'm not sure I'll be ready for that by then, and that just stresses me out more. And what if I have to have surgery on this foot? That's a possibility according to my orthopedic Dr. in my home town.
Life just goes by too fast, and I can't keep up with it, much less enjoy it!

Hi Hisgal, it is great you are going to have your kids home for a few days to celebrate the family Christmas togehter. Just enjoy and don't worry about all the other stresses...I know much easier said than done but if you can put them aside for awhile you will have so much more fun.
That accident was sad, I work in insurnace and see stuff like that all the time...you are so right what would another 5 mintues make?? Kids and cars are always a dangerous combination, even the best kids just don't thinnk sometimes.
Have a wonderful time with your family.

Thanks Hiker!
You are right on both counts! Kids and cars...............
And I emailed my kids an update on the ankle/foot news this morning. Right away I got an email back from one of my DD's saying to don't worry about next weekend. They'd take care of making the food and the hubs would do the dishes.......and make any trips up and down the steps that were needed! wonderful kids! I'm looking forward to it.........not even going to do much cleaning! Just wash the sheets and towels..........we go through a ton of those when everyone is home for an extended weekend!
Ankle still painful this morning. Really haven't been without pain for quite a while now. Toes still numb. Not really back to a good and green (like Mol would say) eating plan. But more normal for sure. Brekkie has been greek yogurt or HB egg with dry shredded wheat.........mid-morning snack is shredded wheat again........lunch has been some variety of chicken soup..........afternoon snack has been almonds and 1 sq. of dark chocolate. Dinner has been leftovers from the weekend, so not great food, but mostly smaller portions........popcorn for snack a couple of nights, the other nights were a piece of dark chocolate. I'll go back full force to strict healthy eating after the weekend with the kids.
I might need to get this weight off, just to help the foot/ankle too!
Hubs working tonight, on his night off..............hmmmmmm. Another night home alone. But, I've got a good book I picked up at the church library. I love Christian fiction.....but never seem to have time to read. I'm taking time tonight!

Hi Pat. I'm so sorry to hear that your ankle is causing you so much pain and the docs haven't been able to find the answers yet. I really hope that the docs at Mayo will be able to pinpoint the issue...and that you get in as soon as possible. The numbness make you wonder if it isn't coming from a pinched nerve or something...I suppose it is possible that the pain is referred pain? I am glad that you have such a wonderful, caring family to help you out in the meantime.

Sorry to hear about the stress at work and your foot. I hope you get some answers from the Mayo clinic. You have great kids. I'm not surprised they don't want you to worry about anything during their visit.
There are some different things that can cause numbness. I've had it off and on through out my life. It could be circulation, a nutrient or hormonal imbalance (high estrogen can cause it too.) and it can also be some an issue with the nerves- hopefully it's not the last one because nerves are the slowest to repair. Numbness can actually be a sign of low iron which I found to be interesting. But if you aren't menstruating anymore that might not be it. Iron helps oxygenate the blood and helps with circulation. I have had heavy periods for a while now and this last month I decided to try some black strap molasses, which is suppose to be rich in iron, potassium and other nutrients, and this time around... I barely even had a period! It was very light and only 3 days long. So I've decided to keep the black strap molasses on hand and maybe have some on the weekends.
Whatever is going on, I will keep you in my prayers that you will find some answers and it gets better for you.
Enjoy your book, maybe getting in some reading time is just what you need with the stress at work and your foot healing. The last book I got to read was over a year ago and I still haven't read it! I either haven't had the time or when I do pick it up, I just can't get interested enough to continue on with it. Maybe I just need a new book.
Hope you have a good week and a great weekend with your family.

Mol, thanks for checking in. I did get a call from Mayo today, and my appt is on Feb. 14th. A whole month yet! It's frustrating not knowing what the cause is.......or that it doesn't feel better after all this time!
Sassy, my PT thinks the numbness is from the "boot" (air-cast) and that now that I'm hardly wearing it, it will slowly go away. Will see...........after my PT moves this morning, I thought the numbness increased. Thanks so much for your prayers.......I truly appreciate them!
Today was not a good day with the ankle. My PT gave me some very gentle exercises to do, to work on the motion in the joint. But, each time I did them, the pain level went from about a 4, to a 7or 8! I even took a Tylenol this afternoon. I've been afraid to take anything for the pain, after the ibuprofen totally upset my stomach acid again.
Today was my massage day..........I try to have one every 4 weeks, as it really seems to help my low back and hips. But, this time it was almost 6 weeks, and I could feel it. She really worked hard today on my neck, upper and lower back. It feels so much better tonight. And some of the pain in my ankle feels better too! I know low back can affect the ankle.
I get my massage right next to the local health food store. So, I stopped in there afterwards and picked up some turmeric drops. Am hoping that will help with the inflammation in my ankle.
Gotta go.......still things to do tonight before I head to bed. The "to do" list for before my daughter and her hubs arrive on Thursday isn't getting shorter!

WOW that sure is a long time to have to wait for your appointment! Very frustrating I'm sure. My boss had PT on her arm for a rotator cuff issue and she said the same thing - even when she did the 'gentle' exercises at home too - that the pain level increased a lot!
The massage sounds wonderful!! I am so glad it helped with your pains, too.
Hope your to-do list is getting shorter!!

Pat, how are you doing? I think about you often and worry a little...
You are on my mind and in my prayers!
How is your ankle and foot?
How is your house coming a long?
How is your family?
How is work?
How are you feeling?
How are your kitties?
And lastly...How is the weather? Has it started to warm up yet in Minnesota?
Our snow that is already on the ground is melting, but we are suppose to get another snow storm tomorrow night. If it would get up into the 50's I think I would actually feel like spending sometime outside.
Take care dear, I miss you.

Scoobs and Sassy.........thanks so much for checking in on me! I miss you too!
I've just been so busy..........as a bookkeeper, January is a very busy time for me. And having taken on more responsibilities at work, when my boss retired last year, I just feel swamped most of the time. Life needs to slow down.........I keep saying I'll be 90 and not know where it all went!
Christmas with the kids was wonderful........just the best!
I've been doing the PT with the ankle, enduring the pain, playing around with the turmeric drops for inflammation (being I can't handle ibuprofen with my high stomach acid). The ankle pain seems to subside when I take the turmeric. And I've cut back a bit on the PT, to try to reduce the pain....per my PT.
Today was my appt at Mayo Clinic. The specialist concurred with the diagnosis of chronic tendonitis, that I got from my local Dr. and the local podiatrist and the local orthopedic Dr. Keep doing the PT...........it will be a long haul. He said the numbness in the toes/foot could take 9-12 months to go away. Hmmmm! A lesson in patience here, perhaps?
Hubs and I were having words today over the kitties. We are leaving for AZ on Friday night to visit his parents. They've been wintering there for 15-20 years now, and I've never been down there to see them. They are in their 80's and who knows what each year brings for them? With the hubs having constant work now for 6 months, he feels comfortable asking for time off to take the trip.
However............our older cat is on medication, so we'd decided to board him while we are gone.........that's $210. Our younger cat (whose picture graces my diary) has had respiratory infections since we had her spayed last fall. It seems to never go away. She's on an antibiotic and an immune booster now, given twice a day. Hubs says she'll be fine, lets leave her at home and have one of the neighbors check on her a couple of times to feed and water her. I say I can't enjoy a vacation, not knowing if my kittie is at home getting more congested, and starting to cough and sneeze again. I want to board her too, continue with the meds, and hopefully get her over this stuff once and for all. It could cost us much more that the boarding fees, if we have multiple trips to the vet afterwards, trying to get her better. Not a pleasant Valentine's Day conversation, when I stopped home for a few minutes on the way back to work, from my Mayo Clinic appt.
The addition is still coming along, but slowly. He's working on the bathroom addition right now, the base for the tub, and the sinks/counters came. He's also starting to work on some of the cabinetry. Slow process, for sure, when you do it yourself, in your very little spare time.
Otherwise, Sassy, family is doing fine! Baby Reid is 7 months now, and always learning something new One grandson turned 9 this month, and the other will be 11 in a few weeks. And the grand-daughter is a 5 year old diva, going on 13!
Take care all............maybe I can catch up some when in AZ. BTW, spent some B-day/Mother's Day money that I'd been saving for years on a new Nook Tablet. I love it! Also got new cell phones (the other ones were 4.5 years old....and fading), and a new mobile hotspot device. Way too much electronic overload for this old grandma to figure out at once!

So glad to hear from you Pat. I've only got a few minutes at the moment, but I wanted to thank you for posting.
I wish you were my neighbor because I would gladly take care of your kitties and give them whatever care they needed.
I'm glad you get to go on this trip though and I hope you guys enjoy yourselves.
Guess what? I just got a call for a job interview on Thursday at 4:00 at a bank. Yay!
My son is calling me for help with his home work so I will write more later.
So good to hear how things are going for you. Take care dear!

Been praying all along for you and Joe, even when I'm not on CPH.........some special ones on Thursday, oh say around 4:00 p.m............or 5:00 my time!
Yeah, I would trust you with my kitties! Some people I wouldn't.......you've got the kindest heart, Sassy!
Those cats are like my kids.............such a part of our lives and the family.
Hope you and Joe have a nice VALENTINE'S DAY!
My sweet hubs brought flowers into the office for me yesterday!
Probably from the local convenience store, not the florist........but it's the thought that counts, and he hand delivered them and helped me put them in a vase (which he brought from home) What a sweetheart! He doesn't have to spend a bundle for me to know he loves me, I always tell him one stem of some flower would be enough.........just so I know he's thinking of me!

You do have a sweet husband! It's not about the money. It's about the effort they put into loving us and taking care of us.
I wanted to mention (if I haven't already - I'm getting so old I can't remember what I've said and to whom anymore. ) That when I did stretching exercises for my feet- the plantar fasciitis, it seemed to make them hurt worse for a while and I was skeptical, but over a long period of time, I do think it helped because I hardly have any problem with it now. And if it does flare up again I will go back to doing the stretching exercises again.
So hopefully over time your PT will help your foot/ ankle get better and better.
I know, it's hard seeing your pets sick and not feeling well.
Yeah, I would trust you with my kitties! Some people I wouldn't.......you've got the kindest heart, Sassy!
That is quite a compliment! And I will take it! Thank you!
Those are a lot of new electronics you got. I am still trying to get use to typing on our laptop we got for Christmas. The mouse pad is so sensitive and often will change the page I'm on or click some link without me even realizing it.
I'll always be an old fashioned girl at heart. I still like to make home made bread occasionally, and receive and send hand written letters and cards, but I would certainly miss my electronics and appliances if they were taken away from me. The last time we went camping I couldn't wait to get home and take a shower! LOL.
I hope you have a great trip! You deserve some time off work. Last edited on 15 February 2012 03:41 pm by Sassykat

Yeah, Sassy, I know what you mean about the laptop! Ours seems so sensitive too! It's getting easier now that we'd had it for 1 1/2 years!
I do feel like I'm on electronic overload yet! Almost missed a call today, cause I couldn't remember how to answer the new phone! Our old ones were 4 1/2 years old.....so this is a BIG change!
I want to load some of my fav CD's onto my Nook Tablet. I figured out how to rip them onto WMP, on the laptop. But last night, when I tried to rip a few more favorite songs, from some older CD's.........the Media Player froze up! And it was already 11:30 by the time I tried that, so I gave up and got ready for bed.
Too many late nights...........I'll be exhausted on vacation! Sure didn't plan on being at the office so late tonight. I've still got laundry to do, some more packing, and some detail stuff at home. And I've got to stop at the grocery store tonight too! My list is so long, but the time is short.
Oh well, I'll sleep better tonight if I've got these accounting books ready for the tax office. I can drop it off on the way into work tomorrow. I'm planning on working a half day.......hope I can be outta here by noon.
We have to take the cats to the vet for boarding right after I get off work. And we are meeting at our son's for supper with one of our daughter's and her family. The son is baby-sitting the 3 grandchildren, so my SIL can take our DD to a concert for her b-day. They will drop us off at the airport on the way to the concert. Otherwise it wouldn't be such of a rush for time, being our flight doesn't leave until after 8:30 p.m.
I'm a nervous flier! Maybe I'll be so exhausted that I'll sleep through the flight to AZ? My Sis-in-law gave me some Dramamine, just in case............that makes me sleepy. I used to have to go to the Dr. for something, 'cause I'd break out in hives when we flew anywhere. Thank goodness I've gotten over that..........I just don't like sitting like a sardine in those seats! Maybe wouldn't be so bad, if we could afford to fly first class?

Hi from sunny AZ.....now I know why I can't ever find my in-laws at home. We've been on the go. They are a fun couple and act much younger than their 81 years.
Our hotel is great and the hot tub has been great for the back and knees. The ankle is feeling pretty good, and we've been doing a fair amount of walking.
Should go do some stretching before they take us to a comedy night at the park they live at.
To Sedona tomorrow with the RedHat Ladies........getting a taste of retirement activities!

Wed already! Was hoping to get some time in the sun, but it's not happening. Well, did get a bit yesterday, but this morning's plan didn't happen. My MIL wanted a perm, so I volunteered to take her, while the guys went shuffle boarding. Well, I'm getting some reading time in on my Nook!
Starting the days off with a big brkfst at the hotel.......eggs always stick with me. Usually one other meal each day, sometimes a second.
Ankle still feels pretty good most of the time......but really need to do my strengthening exercises! Never any time!
The week is going fast, like all vacations do.........

However............vacation over! It was hard to leave those days of sunshine and 80 to come back to the reality of a MN winter.......with a snowstorm bearing down on us. Fortunately, the 16-20 inch snowfall is to be to the north of us......or unfortunately? Sounds like we will get a lot of freezing rain/ice/sleet. I might prefer the snow....at least you can drive on it, or at least you don't slide so much!
Ankle is feeling OK yet. I didn't get my PT in after the third day in AZ. My in-laws are constantly on the go, we didn't hardly get to rest. And the couple of nights that we went back to the hotel early, to rest or sit in the hot tub..........they went to play cards at the community center at their park! I don't have that much energy now, I hope I do when I'm in my 80's!
Back to the reality of work, and the stress! My neck and shoulders have been so tight all day that I could hardly hold a pen or write........didn't have that problem while on vacation. Think it's the job? Stress? Oh yeah!
So the hubs came into town and picked up our kitties. Even though I could easily stay and work for hours, I'm going home to cuddle up with them.
I didn't get on the scale this morning, as TTOM seems to be starting......but my clothes tell me that I put on a few pounds while on vacation. But, I am back to eating right now that I'm home.........so let's watch those lbs go away and never come back! (Please, please, please!!!)
Back on the turmeric this afternoon too. I seem to have arthritis in my left thumb joint. Was very painful before we left for AZ.........felt pretty good while there......and the pain is back full force today. Hoping if the turmeric is suppose to reduce inflammation, it will work on the thumb as well as the ankle.

Do you think the climate in AZ had something to do with how you felt?
I think the weather where we live has a lot to do with making people feel worse who have inflammation and arthritis. There was a period of time in my life where my legs would ache every time there was a storm coming. It was terrible.
Sorry to hear about the stress with work. I hope it gets better.
How are your kitties doing? I bet they are so glad to be back home in your arms!

I know my thumb felt better in AZ......now that we've been getting rain, I'm thinking this really is some arthritis in my thumb. The wet/damp days it definitely hurts more.
Kitties are giving me lots of attention since we got home from AZ. Every time I sit down, I have the 2 of them in my lap. Last week with bronchitis, they got a lot of lap time!
My bronchitis is slowly getting better......I think most of what I'm coughing now is sinus stuff from allergies. Everything here is green..........lawn, trees, shrubs. Pollen all over the place! I didn't start my local honey early enough, for sure! But, still drinking lots of tea and honey........some every day!
I missed 3.5 days of work last week, and probably should have stayed home on Friday too. I should double-check everything I did that day! Making progress on getting stuff in the computer for taxes. Am hoping to get it fiinished this coming weekend, so I can start prepping the tongue-in-groove pine boards for staining. Hubs is working on the bathroom mostly......getting part of the new part done, in anticipation of ripping out the old. Such a mess it is!
Someone is going on vacation in our office, so as of Wed. this week, I am the only support staff around here. A bit scary, as I don't know everything there is to know to cover her job. Also, I am still working behind, and so much to do yet. I got a fair amount done today, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to what I have left to finish in the next month. Just one day at a time.............
Been still feeling the plantar facitis in my right heel..........and some pain in the left ankle again. The chronic tendonitis had been feeling pretty good, and I'd been doing limited walking. But, I find that the days I walked (even if only 10 minutes) I had so many cramps/"charlies" in my ankles and up the outside of my leg at night. Not sure why or how to prevent it. Taking my liquid multi-vitamins, plus a few extras (D, B-complex, fish oil, Iodoral/selenium)
Stomach been acting up some, but I'm on an antibiotic for the bronchitis, so wondering if that is doing it? Pollen's been bad.........such itchy eyes and sinus drainage! Yuck! But, I love the spring temps........just not the pollen and allergies.

Thought I'd have time for a long "catch-up" post, but my daughter called from CO. Hadn't talked to her for too long! I miss her When this report gets done printing, I'm heading home. Got stuff to enter in the computer at home, and need to eat dinner.
Bronchitis is better, but I'm still coughing and my chest still feels tight. I hear that's all part of this stuff going around. Everyone says the cough hangs on for weeks. And the allergies are definitely a factor. This is the week for my massage, and I can't wait! My "everything" is tight!
TTOM started last Monday, March 26.......just barely, for about 2 days. Then started in again on Sunday (Apr 1)........but again, just barely there. Sure hope it's winding down and this is the end in sight!
Scale is still hanging in the 193-195 range, the times I've checked. Just can't get the incentive to really get at it. I know the extreme stress at work, feeling like I'm always behind, and now doing part of another person's job too is taking it's toll on me. When I'm away from the office or on the weekends, I generally feel pretty good. When it's the work week.......I get muscle spasms, headaches, tightness in my chest..........too bad I can't quit my job........or get some help here! Copier broke down last Friday just before closing.......so I had to deal with the service call. This morning, some of the office email accounts weren't working, so more stuff to deal with. I just want to go back to just doing my bookkeeping duties! Not running the whole office!
Well, the report finished, so I'm getting out of here, heading home, to sit at the computer and do some data entry for our tax prep........

I am so sorry about all the stressful conditions you have at work.
That really does have an effect on your health.
I haven't been counting calories lately, but I have been trying to eat foods that are high in nutrients just to help me feel better. Foods like liverwurst (high in zinc) and beets, and berries, spinach, avacados etc. Be sure you're good to yourself so your body has the fuel that it needs to deal with the stress.
I hope things get better for you too and I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Thanks for your prayers, Sassy........I really, really need them right now. My body is reacting to the stress, for sure. I woke with such a headache this morning......and everything is tight and hurting. And it doesn't help that I've been stress eating..... grabbing the bad stuff. If I could just take time for lunch and get out of here each day for a while. Both ankles are hurting right now.......but I didn't take my turmeric for inflammation while I was on the antibiotics. I started again yesterday, hope that helps. And I've been trying to take at least a little time in the morning to stretch, especially the achilles, as I'm feeling the plantar facitis in the right heel.
Gotta get back at it..........just wanted to say thank you!

I just reread your last two posts. I know you have said that you take magnesium, but it really sounds like you're low in it. (muscle spasms, tightness, headaches) Are you still taking Iodoral? The iodine can also lower your magnesium. A couple of things you could try is taking less iodine and or changing the type of magnesium you're taking...Maybe to one that is more absorb-able like magnesium malate. Just an idea.
It does sound like you are dealing with a lot. A lot of stress and a lot of aches and pains.
I do hope things get better work-wise and with you feeling better too. And I am definitely praying for you. Said a prayer for you just now!
Take good care of yourself.

Sassy...........thanks so much for taking time to pray for me. That means so much!
I am taking the Iodoral sporadically..........I hadn't taken it for quite a while, just got away from it. Then started again a few weeks ago, but it's about 4 times a week.
There is magnesium in my Vibe (vitamin/mineral), which is from several different kinds of magnesium (including the magnesium malate). And the other source, which is the calcium/magnesium combination doesn't say what the source of magnesium is. However, both are in liquid form, as I have questioned how much I absorb of any vitamins/minerals from food or supplements, because of my stomach acid problems. So I switched my supplements to liquid last summer.....for a while I took a sublingual B12. I'm thinking I am absorbing OK, as my finger nails have started to get better. They still are a bit cracked/peeling, but not bad compared to what they used to be like.
I can't remember if I mentioned it..........but on weekends, or even at lunch with a friend, my pain and spasms aren't present. They seem to come on at work, or on the drive in, or if I start thinking on all the things I have to get done there. That's why I tend to think it's all stress related.

Pat, are you conscientious of keeping your muscles tense while you are at work?
I have a terrible back ache now and today (thinking of what you were saying about stress) tried to be more aware of tensing up and I think it does have something to do with the pain. I tried to relax my back muscles and it did seem to help a little bit. It didn't totally make the pain go away, but it did lessen.
Hopefully things will get better for you at work.

Happy Easter Pat!
Thank you for the beautiful Easter card you sent me. What a nice surprise. One of these years I need to get on the ball and send some out.
Hope you're having a fabulous weekend.

Sassy............your welcome for the card. I hope you had a great Easter weekend!
I always have Good Friday off...........and I thoroughly enjoyed having a 3-day weekend! Our son and DIL and newest grandchild, Reid, who is 9 months old already...came on Friday night. They stayed for the 2 nights, but were gone on Saturday. Our son had an alumni Basketball game, and our DIL took Reid to her mom's for a while to play with his other cousins. It was the best Easter gift to have those two mornings with them all. And my DD called from CO on Sunday morning, so I got to visit with her too.
We had the plumber (relative) there to work on getting the plumbing finished for the whirlpool, shower and extra sink............so when the other sink gets taken out (tub/shower went last weekend) I'll still have a working sink during the rest of the remodel. So with laundry, making lunch for the guys, and trying to get a little more data in the computer, it was busy! Oh yeah, one of my sister-in-laws called and the ladies went down to my in-laws to do a good cleaning before the come home from AZ this week. Hubs and nephew installed the new dishwasher the kids bought my in-laws for Christmas. So, their house should be ready for them when they fly home on Wed.
About the tight muscles...........mine used to be really bad at work. But my work station wasn't set up right and I was always leaning forword with my mousing hand and the keyboard wasn't at the right height either, so I was often hunched over my desk area. I would check on that first. You can google it and find out the best way to have everything set. I know keyboard should almost be in your lap, so your arms/elbows are at your side. And I think the monitor should be at your fingertips, if you stretch your arm straight out in front of you.
I fell after church on Friday night.............on all fours, on the cement outside! Have I been sore this weekend. But the hubs did get the whirlpool going, and I tried it out last night. Did that feel good! Sure helped the sore muscles

By the time I get to work, I have a headache, and tight chest muscles. Should this be telling me anything about my job? Yesterday I went to another office, where I do bookkeeping one afternoon a month................no headache, no chest tightness.......came back to my regular job at the end of the day, and I started tightening up again! I woke up this morning feeling good.........by the time I did the 15 minute drive to work......headache and tight shoulders! Aaaaargh!
Time goes by so fast, that I hate to wish it away............but right now I wish it was Mother's Day weekend........my DD is coming home from CO that weekend, and I definitely need to have everything caught up at work by May 1. If I can just make it through this next month, I'll really love my job again. I hate working behind constantly!

Yes that SHOULD be telling you something about your job! Yikes! You must be under lots of stress!

Thanks for always checking up on me in my diary...these last couple months have been rather challenging lol.

Thanks, Scoobs Nice to have you visit my diary! The knees are sore, but I can go up and down steps without too much pain. The bruise on my left knee is very, very tender to the touch. Over the weekend, just the fabric of my pants was enough to send me over the top, if it pulled against it. And after I sit for a while, they are very stiff, when I get up and try to walk. Am hoping they keep improving

| Hello my dear...I'm so sorry to read what a toll the stress is having on you...I do understand and I don't want to see you having to feel that way. Sending warm thoughts and good wishes your way, and at least hoping for some better weather which will help you feel a bit better physically. Hugs and thinking of you!

Thanks for looking in my diary and your kind words
If you have Achilles tendon problems as I had. Try doing some hamstring stretches. I know it sounds weird. I did loads of calve stretches which didn't help until a physio pointed out that my hamstrings were tight and affecting Achilles and calves. Touch wood I'm good now having suffered for 2 years.
I hope I am not teaching you how to suck eggs but if you want hamstring stretches just try you tube.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice John..........I know how interconnected the body parts are, so I sure will try. I know when my chiro adjusts my pelvis/hips.......my neck loosens up!
Now I just need to get rid of the continued stress...........and find time and energy for the exercise and stretching!
I feel like a blimp..........back up to 200 lbs. 2 weeks............2 weeks...........in 2 weeks a lot of the stress should be gone, 'cause I should have this last project done. Then I just need a month to catch up on the "regular" stuff at work. Then it's time to concentrate on "ME"!!!!!
I had my monthly massage today. IT HURT SO BAD! All of my muscles are so tight, no doubt due to the stress I've been under. But, I gave myself a treat.........I schedule 2 massages in between now and my regular monthly one! I really need it....started having trouble walking up steps again.

Boy you have been under a lot of stress and that does raise havoc with our bodies. The massages sound like a wonderful idea. I have had a couple of theraputic massages, boy do they hurt but afterward it feels so good.
Hope things calm down for you soon.

Oh Pat..it pains me to see this because I can see how your work stress is affecting your health. If there's anything you can do to create little space for yourself for the next 10 weeks, I wish that for you...even if it is asking someone else to help out for a bit, or just deciding that you simply aren't going to tackle certain things for a couple of months. Sending you lots of support from here.

Gosh Pat, I truly hope this time passes quickly and you can get back to a bit of 'YOU' time. You certainly sound like you need it!
I got on the scale too and have definitely been upgraded back to blimp status. So far I've strung a couple good days together and am hoping for a roll this time. If I don't stop medicating myself with food I indeed will look like a roll.
Hope the stresses are getting lesser and lesser! Hope your weekend was great!
