Is this like walk like an Egyptian? I think eating like a caveman is much harder than walking like an Egyptian. The concept behind the PaleoDiet is that the way our bodies digest food has not changed since the caveman. What does that mean? Our bodies are not designed to eat processed foods with preservatives. This whole idea has been sweeping the health world recently. I started on my path over a year ago, although I have not been Paleo 100% of the time. Eating organic can be expensive and that is one of the only ways to be sure you are not getting any preservatives and other nasty things like fillers in or on your food. What is also means is a WHOLE LOTA Cooking. Eating out is not really an option with the Paleo diet, unless you know for sure the restaurant you are eating at is 100% organic itself. And for anyone who wears a lot of hats (I myself am Mom, Student, Realtor, Housekeeper, and so many more) adding a chefs hat to it can be overwhelming and time consuming.

What has saved me in this endeavor is the PaleoMeal shake powder I picked up from my gym. Gluten, soy, dairy, and sugar free! And let me tell you, it tastes great. I mix it with some hazelnut milk and some frozen mixed berries and it tastes like an amazing milk shake. Without the milk.

Is anyone else eating like a caveman? If so what are some of your recipes that you use?

Hi there!
I'm as close to Paleo as I can afford to be, meaning that usually it's CAFO meat and eggs, unless I can get up early enough and afford the local organics from the farmer's market. What works for me is whenever I can I but a large package/piece of protein, cook it ( and by cook it I mean throw some seasoning like garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, and chuck it in the oven for a while) and have it available for when I need a meal. I even cook up my starchy vegetables my advance since hard squashes and sweet potatoes seem to take forever to cook. It makes packing a lunch easy too.

At this point I'm not stressing if restaurant has organic and grass-fed. It's pretty easy to get some kind of protein and veg without sauce on it.

At this point, dairy's out too, and that means the shake as well since it has whey protein in it. However, I'll keep the shake powder in mind for summer. When it's really hot, a protein shake is all the dinner I can tolerate!

The Shakes seriously save me! If I am going to make it to the gym I have to get up and leave by about 5:30am so I can be back before my daughter wakes up and my mom has to leave for work.

The sakes are WAY faster than eggs, and easy to drink on the go (ei while I am driving to the gym). And for being "Free" of so much of the things our culture puts into food to make it taste good, it still really tastes good.

I made one for my boyfriend the other day and he was very skeptical and complaining about the taste before he even tried it. Now he has me bring one over when I go to visit. They really taste great! I found that the liquid you mix in makes a big difference. I have tried coconut milk, almond milk and hazelnut. I feel the hazelnut goes the best with the chocolate paleomeal, but I like the coconut for the berry flavor. The chocolate one is definitely the best though! Mixing the frozen berries is great because of the antioxidants, and then its a fruit serving as well.

The company Designs for Health are the ones that make the powder I use. It was what was recommended to me by my trainer and my nutritionist. You can find them on Amazon among other sites if you're interested.

I'm following a very relaxed version of the diet. I don't worry about buying organic food though, and I'm still drinking plenty of coffee and hot chocolate with soy milk, so I'll need to work on cutting those out. I used to rarely eat meat more than once a day, but since I've added more meat to my diet, I rarely get hungry, and my IBS has settled down. I also lost an inch from my stomach in a day, so I think the grains I was eating before was making me bloated.

My favourite breakfast so far is chicken thigh scrambled egg:
2 diced chicken thighs
1 egg

Sear the chicken thighs in a non-stick pan. Then add the egg. Mix it up untill cooked.

Yoyo, I'm so jealous!I miss caffeine so badly, especially my tea. Kicking sugar was a breeze in comparison.
